What is Cisco IQ?
Cisco IQ is a unified, AI-powered digital interface that consolidates Cisco’s Support Services and Professional Services into a single experience. Instead of separate tools for case management, asset tracking, assessments, and lifecycle planning, Cisco IQ brings real-time insights, on-demand assessments, troubleshooting, automation, and agentic AI capabilities together in one place.
Architecturally, Cisco built it on four pillars:
- Data Fabric: a unified data model spanning the entire infrastructure lifecycle (plan, design, implement, operate, optimize), handling structured, unstructured, batch, streaming, and MELT (metrics, events, logs, traces) data.
- Document intelligence and knowledge management: decades of Cisco documentation, design guides, and security policies converted into structured knowledge using knowledge graphs and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), so AI-generated answers are grounded in verified Cisco data.
- Generative AI with principled automation: guardrails such as RAG, schema enforcement, and human-in-the-loop validation, reconciling the probabilistic nature of LLMs with the deterministic outcomes enterprise operations require.
- API-first design: every capability is exposed through APIs, with a multi-modal UI layer on top (dashboards, conversational AI, and generative UI) for different types of interaction.
Cisco IQ is also built for flexible deployment: SaaS, on-prem tethered (local data storage with cloud-delivered updates), or on-prem air-gapped for organizations with strict compliance or sovereignty requirements. On-prem components are FIPS certified, and Cisco states no data leaves a customer’s network without explicit consent.
How Cisco IQ Benefits You as a Client
Centralized visibility
Cisco IQ replaces fragmented, tool-by-tool visibility with a single, dynamic view of your entire Cisco asset inventory. Rather than reconciling data pulled separately from purchase records, device telemetry, and support cases, Cisco IQ’s Predictive Asset Insights capability unifies that information into one inventory view. For teams managing large, multi-site Cisco environments, this removes a lot of the manual cross-referencing that historically went into knowing what you have, where it is, and what state it’s in.
LDoS data aggregated
Last Day of Support (LDoS) and broader lifecycle data is aggregated directly into that same unified inventory. Cisco IQ tracks lifecycle milestones across your assets and surfaces relevant Field Notices and Security Advisories alongside them, so end-of-support and end-of-life timelines aren’t something you have to track separately in spreadsheets or discover after the fact. This supports proactive lifecycle and refresh planning instead of reactive scrambling when a device falls out of support.
AI-enabled insights across platforms
Because Cisco IQ is built on a common Data Fabric and API-first architecture, it applies AI-driven insights consistently across your Cisco portfolio rather than as siloed, product-specific tools. The interface layer reflects this: dashboards for known metrics and KPIs, conversational AI for open-ended troubleshooting questions, and generative UI that builds the right visualization (chart, map, timeline) for a given analysis. Insights are grounded in Cisco’s knowledge base via RAG, and the same agentic AI foundation adapts to each customer’s specific operational environment rather than delivering generic, one-size-fits-all recommendations.
Patching and vulnerability management
Cisco IQ’s Adaptive Infrastructure Assessments provide a standardized framework covering security hardening, compliance, and configuration checks. The AI interprets best-practice guides, analyzes your actual configurations, and produces prioritized, actionable findings and recommendations, turning security advisories and patching guidance into something you can act on rather than a list of documents to comb through manually. Combined with the lifecycle data above, this helps teams get ahead of vulnerabilities and required patches before they become the source of an outage or compliance gap.
The Bigger Picture
Cisco frames Cisco IQ as a shift from reactive support to proactive, predictive operations that helps IT teams move from firefighting to foresight. For clients, the practical upside is fewer blind spots, less time spent stitching together data from disparate tools, and earlier warning on the issues most likely to cause outages or security exposure.
With SaaS general availability now live as of April 24, 2026, clients can access these capabilities directly.
